Samsung LNT4665F 46" 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LNT4665F 46' 1080p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I searched for a flat-screen tv for a couple of months, and finally chose the 4665. I chose the size of the TV based on my room, and decided 50 was too big and 42 too small. This left me without a decision on plasma vs lcd, which was ok with me. Plasma has more basic issues, and going LCD was not a sacrifice - except I had yet to see a LCD with black blacks, so I was not sure what I would see in the 46" range.

As for price range, I decided that I was going to buy the tv that I was happiest with. It was not that I have unlimited budget, just that I wanted to make sure that I would going to be completely satisfied with a 2-3k purchase. I really only knew about the plasma tv's in 42" 720p, so I had a lot of research to do to understand what to buy.

After reading hundreds of reviews and going to several stores to comparison shop, I was basically down to three Samsung models. I was considering the LN-T4665F, LN-T4661F and the LNS4696. Going straight by the specs, the 4665 looked to be the best because of the 15000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. With this in mind, I was confused to see that BestBuy has the 4696 in their Magnolia section and not the 4665 - my only guess is that it is because the 4665 does not have a cableCard slot.

After lots of playing I was more than happy with each of the TVs, and my choices were narrowed down by wanting more hdmi's right on the set, wanting the best possible contrast, and the glossy screen on the 4665. I have seen several complaints about the glossy screen, however this was a selling feature for me - for the same reason that I ordered a MacBook Pro with the glossy screen - I just think that it makes moves look better. I can deal with reflection during the day to get a picture that I am happier with when watching a movie at night.

I must say that I am extremely impressed so far. I have not had a single image problem yet, and the setup was clearly the worst part of this tv. All-in-all, I am 100% satisfied with this purchase.

So here's my brief summary of the high/low points:

Pros:
1. (3) HDMI inputs
2. Excellent contrast - forget the numbers, as they are fiction - the blacks are black
3. Glossy screen - movies spectacular - Toy Story is mind-blowing!
4. Weight - This is one of the newer, lighter sets
5. Price - Not that this set was cheap, but I liked this over the Sony and would have spent another $1,000 to get a comparable Sony - and I hate the glass around the Sony's

Cons:
1. No cableCard slot - really only matters if you want to mount it on the wall

That's how I see it. I give this TV my highest endorsement.

Product Description:
For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 46-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT4665F is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4665F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.
The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Average Reviews:

After owning this set for over a month, and spending a lot of time researching the best bang for the buck in the 50 inch and larger category, here are my impressions:

The only real compromise you will make in purchasing this TV versus the more expensive models is the contrast ratio, it just doesn't get as truly black as other far more expensive models. There are a few occasions when you will notice this: on letterboxed super wide screen Bluray content, and on some graphics on broadcasts and playing some parts of video games. But that's it...the dynamic contrast of this 52" Philips/Funai is certainly adequate for 98.3% of all other content.

Also note that the picture right out of the box is in no way representative of what this set can achieve.Out of the box settings are way too bright, the color is hyped, and the resolution was set to a mode that created scaling artifacts on a 1080i input. As soon as these were adjusted to more realistic levels, and the picture set to "unscaled", the screen quality came to life.

There are many controls for how the image is displayed, play with them to get close to what pleases your eye, and then write them down when you are happy. From there you can tweak up and down to achieve close to perfection.

I like my picture somewhat on the dark side (akin to the movie theatre experience) which also lowers power consumption. Here are some settings you can use as a starting point (Firmware version 13).Try these before calling in the expensive home theatre guy to calibrate your set:

Contrast 38
Brightness 67
Color 33
Tint 0
Sharpness 3
Temperature - Warm
Dynamic Contrast - On
Digital Natural Motion - On
Noise reduction - Off
MPEG noise reduction- On
Color enhancement - On
Picture Format - Unscaled
Vertical and Horizontal - Adjust to fit your source material so that the image fits perfectly into the screen.

Something no one has mentioned here is the ability to display your digital photos from a USB flash drive...the quality is phenomenal, the ultimate slide show!!You can also play music files from a flash drive.

Also, please note that this set has upgradable firmware. There is information on the Philips site for the latest version (correcting many of the issues that have been brought up in previous reviews) and the instructions for upgrading the firmware are in the manual. The set I purchased was already up to date as it was unboxed.

Sharp Aquos LC52D64U 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Sharp Aquos LC52D64U 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Sharp LC52D64U via a direct promotion with Sharp USA. The deal I was offered was too good to pass up. I have never bought a large format TV in my life and always got by with a Sony CRT 27" in my bedroom running SD TV. I was just fine with that for many years and when I moved into a new apartment with a nice big (and empty) living room and ordered HD cable, I decided to consider purchasing a large HD panel TV.

When I did my research, I was overwhelmed at the number of choices, formats and connections types, such as LCD, plasma, projection, 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, Hdmi, HD channels recievers....argh!?!?!?!

Well after I did enough research, this Sharp LCD has everything that I need for at least the next 5 years. I am running a Tivo Series 3 HD reciever pumping 1080i HD channels over digital cable into one of the 3 available HDMI ports. The image quality is, to say the least, MAGNIFICENT!!!! The deep blacks and rich colors really cut through exceptionally well. I have not yet played an HD DVD or Blu-Ray movie through it, but if the 1080i HD channels look this great, I can only expect the same from watching Spiderman 3 on Bluray at 1080P when it's available this late October.

When I was researching large format panel TV's, my eye kept going to plasmas like Panasonics and the Elite series from Pioneer. Suffice it to say, these brands were very much out of my budget and consdered LCD's instead. So I did some research on the Aqous series and found alot of useful information. I also read many reports of the Sharp Aquos series suffering from a bad phenomenom known as "banding" and a recent review of the LC52D64U on cnet.com indicated that the problem was still present in this new model. This made me nervous about buying the TV, but then Ireminded myself that those reviewers have eyes like a hawk and scrutinize every little detail that an average consumer (like me) probably wouldn't even notice until pointed out.

Well I don't know if I can't see it, or if it is not present in my particular unit, but I have NOT experienced any "banding" issues that may appear as color bleed, ghosting effects or ongoing pixilation.

Sharp does offer Aquos models that have a higher refresh rate as much at 120 hertz. This unit, I believe, operates at a 60 hertz refresh rate. The higher 120 refresh rate is supposed to handle fast moving images (such as football player running across a field) and improve the image so as to reduce any bluriness or undesireable pixilation.

Well I do not watch alot of sports, so this is not a deal breaker for me. There were a few times I was watching a movie and saw some pixilation occurring due to fast moving images. But as long as you watch your 52" sharp LCD from a practical viewing distance and loose yourself in the entertainment and not scrutinize every single image that's on the screen, you probably won't notice it when it does occur, if at all.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the Sharp LC52D64U. Remember that to get the most out of this LCD panel, be prepared to spend some money and feed it a high resolution data feed for both audio and video. Everything I am sending it comes in at full 1080i/1080P, if not upscaled from 720/480. I plan to get the new X-Box 360 elite and it has an HDMI output port and many of the newer games run at 1080P, so I can only imagine that there's more visual pleasure to come my way.

I hope this non-technical review was helpful. Now go out and buy this damn thing and be a happy couch potato!!! :-)

Toshiba REGZA 42HL67 42-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Toshiba REGZA 42HL67 42 inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

Let's just say I have had my experiences with LCD TV's. I have a Westinghouse (which has 67+ Reviews on Crutchfield alone, a Sharp and a Samsung) With all that said, this Toshiba puts them all to shame. All the Extras hooked up: PS3, HDTV Sat, HDTV Over Air and of course SD Sat; without any doubt this TV on a whole Blows away the competition (coming from a Die Hard SONY fan) The important stuff; 3 HDMI inputs, TV Optical Out, Ability to select Direct Input when changing Video Inputs(this is important when programming Universal Remotes), A ton of Video Settings and of course it is simply Beautiful.

Designed in the image of the Classic Sleek pricey Pioneer Elites or the always gorgeous hard to find LG LCD sets; it's absolutely clean on the outside in the surrounding fairly thin jet Black Bezel...The speakers are hidden, but yet they sound amazing(Adjustable settings). The Picture in SD is beyond ANY other I have seen on an LCD. In HD the set will blow you away, guaranteed! Over the Air reception of HD is spectacular; I picked up 10 channels (5 HD) I did not have before. My PS3 comes to life, especially in Game Mode; all this and I have no space to mention the PC input. The Remote is better than most TV Universal remotes, with the odd exception of it not having a direct on/off CC button(Odd!)..

Toshiba has truly figured it out and has set a New Bar for all those "other" Manufacturers to follow. Go compare all the specs on Crutchfield! But Do not let the Amazon price fool you; Toshiba has given the best absolute quality at below average Name Brand pricing...Everyone I have shown the set to, has been in Awe!...then when they hear the price, Forget about it!

Product Description:
Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.
The 42HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen. The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 42HL67 is only 4.89 inches deep and weighs 54 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It can also make these connections to your audio and video components:

    HDMI inputs: 3
ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2
PC monitor input: 1 VGA 15 Pin D-sub
    S-video input: 1
    A/V inputs: 2
Audio
The unit's SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system. 42-inch wide screen
A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 42-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 42HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of 9.5 to 16 feet. What's in the Box
42HL67, stand, 4-item universal remote, stand, warranty and product manuals.

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S3000 40-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S3000 40 inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had my Sony KDL-40S3000 set up for about a week now and could not be happier! Amazon.com had by far the best price around considering that you get free shipping and pay no tax, and trust me I surfed every online site and retail store for over a month before making my purchase.

I was about to go plasma with Samsung, until I saw it in store and hated the reflective black display and case as well as reading several poor customer reviews. This Sony set has a sexy matte black finish and the screen is clear and reflection free in any lighting!Sony TV's in my book are across the board the best blend of top technology, proven durability and quality as well as sleek cool looks. My family has always owned Sony TV's and have never had even one of them serviced, some still running are over 20 years old!

But back to my new KDL-40S3000..... It's a sure crowd pleaser in any home!As of now, there are no HD broadcast channels in the 1080p format, only 1080iwhich this TV with the native resolution of 720p displays vividly, so I would advise you to think about this if you are looking at some of Sony's 1080p models that cost a lot more.Along with the fact that because the majority of broadcast channels besides HD channels (1080i) on Digital cable and I believe even Satellite are still in the 480p format, a TV such as this one with 720p resolution will display a cleaner and sharper image than that of a 1080p model. Bottom line... unless you have a Blu-Ray or HD DVD player and want a barely noticeable sharper picture, Go With 720p, you will save money and not be sacrificing anything trust me!

As for features and sound quality, you will be overwhelmed with what Sony brings to the plate. The menu options and settings are extensive but yet fun with Sony's graphical onscreen display, but the picture right of the box is just as impressive. I am a big fan of surround sound systems, but so far I am completely satisfied with the KDL-40S3000's clear and projecting sound quality, and I seriously question the poor remarks from other reviews about this set being deficient in sound. The audio/video inputs and outputs of this set are numerous and the 2 HDMI hook-ups will meet the needs of most home users considering there are also 2 component connections and various other lower quality connections.

So in closing I would recommend the Sony KDL-40S3000 to any and everyone looking to get into the flat-panel market, hands-down!!! Yes, Sony may be a bit more money than comparable sized other brands, but you are paying for top notch quality, engineering, and styling and you will not regret a cent of it! Set your price range, determine the right size and viewing distance for your room and put Sony at the top of your list when shopping Amazon.com for the best price on your flat-panel TV! Good luck and I hope my review has helped. I know a flat-panel is a major purchase and it's worth the time and effort to write a review if you are truly impressed and satisfied to pass on a great experience to others!

I've had this TV for about 5 months, and I've gotta say that its amazing! I have my PS3 hooked up to it and Bluray movies and games look incredibly crisp and clear. For a budget TV, this thing has a fantastic picture and some great features. Calibrating the colors took a little bit of effort but once out of the way the thing is fantastic. The sound is great too, but I'm no audiophile. Sounds good to me, though.

Samsung LN46A550 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LN46A550 46 inch 1080p LCD HDTV

First things first, I ordered this TV directly from Amazon and within a few days the price dropped and Amazon refunded the difference.Awesome!Amazon's White Glove delivery service delivered as promised and was OK to deal with; no issues at all.So for those of you wondering whether it is better to spend a few hundred bucks to order this set from a brick and mortar store; keep your money in your pocket and order from Amazon.

As for the TV, I am not a video expert type, but I do research big ticket items thoroughly before buying. This set and the previous generations received great reviews. However, I was torn between plasma and LCD.Being a big sports fan (lots of fast moving action on the screen) I had been leaning towards plasma. But the reviews of this set and the benefits of LCD over plasma (lighter, uses less energy, no risk of burn in and better for well lit rooms) made me make the plunge.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied. This is my first HDTV and I am using Directv HD service and the picture is outstanding. It is sharp, bright and overall beautiful. The only issue I have, which I was worried about with the LCDs, is that I do notice some pixelation when scenes move very fast (Thus 4 instead of 5 stars). However, it is not distracting but I do notice it.

The speakers are not as bad as some of the reviews would indicate. You just need to set the equalizer to the right settings.I have a home theatre set up so this is not a big issue, but to some it is so I thought I would comment on them.

The set looks great, is easy to set up and I am very, very, very happy with my purchase.Especially at thisprice. With my extra money I was able to buy a nice stand for the Samsung.

I hope this helps.

Samsung LN46A850 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color Review

Samsung LN46A850 46 inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off let me provide some basic info so you have an understanding of the use, location, and expectations for this TV. Let me state that this is the first HDTV we have ever owned. This is a replacement for a functioning 25" Zenith color console with a rotary dial (only has a flat UHF and VHF input) that we purchased new 25 plus years ago. We have basic cable (Time Warner) that was hooked up to the old TV through a VHS and DVD (separate) player. We started researching HDTV's last year. After information overload from all of the various manufactures as to why they were better we settled on the Samsung brand just to start narrowing it down. After that we took up the Plasma vs. LCD. We settled on the LCD and then quickly narrowed it down to the 46" model based upon our living room layout. We have three interior and one exterior wall, with the exterior wall facing east and is all glass. We have a fireplace at the end of the room and that is where the TV has always set. After all of that was done we were ready to pull the trigger and purchase the LN46A650 but waited for a while ($$). By the time we were ready to purchase, Samsung had just released the 850, 860, and 950.Jump back into research to see what the differences were. Well thin is what we needed to help with the room arrangement so we quickly changed to the 850 (ToC red) / 860 (ToC blue) model. We purchased the 850 on Cyber Monday. It arrived the following Monday.

1. CEVA Logistics, Just after placing my order I received a confirmation from Amazon with the tracking #. Goggled CEVA, placed the tracking # in the main web page to locate the TV and there it was, at the warehouse outside of Harrisburg Pa. I checked it several times that week and followed it through their system. I received a phone call from the local agent on Friday who setup a delivery time on Monday (7 days after the order) for a delivery between 9 and 1.They arrived at about 10:00 with a small urban type delivery truck. The two deliverymen were college aged and friendly. They met me at the door and we inspected the package together. They advised me before stepping into the house that they were only to unpack and check that it powered on. They did just that and there were no issues. I tried to tip them but they politely refused and went on their way. I am mentioning this here as some reviews were all over the place on them.

2. The TV, It was easy to hook up.Screwed in the cable to the back and turned it on. It went through a couple of quick menus and then it was searching for channels. It even tells you on the screen where it is in the process. We only get about 60 basic cable channels so I was quite surprised when it said that it was up to about 150 and still going.Once it reached the end it stated "removing scrambled channels" which brought the number back down. It found all of the HD channels that Time Warner provides free and I never new they were there.

3. Navigating the built in menu system is fairly easy. Once you get the hang of the remote you can set up the entire TV in about 30 minutes (in my case).

4. I will say that the remotes are pretty particular that they are pointed at the lower left side of the screen. One remote has everything on it. The second remote in the box that is pretty basic. It will turn the TV off and on; change the channels and the volume.

5. ToC, this is a non issue in this model. You can barely see it at all and there is no glare that we can detect at all through the sides that affect the picture.

6. The black bezel is extremely glossy and looks spectacular. When our room has all of the lights on you can see the reflections off of it but it has not interfered with our viewing. We mostly have one light on in the room at the far end in the evening and it is not noticeable. Daytime viewing, in the morning the room is brightly lit as it gets the rising sun. The screen is not affected from it.

7. Factory defaults, from the start we left them alone till we had a better feel for the TV.We have been tweaking here and there and believe that everyone can customize to their tastes. The picture is just exceptionally clear and the TV does a great job of adjusting the straight 4:3 broadcast into what ever format you want.I think that there are 5 different settings here (4:3, 16:9, zoom 1, zoom 2, wide fit) and you can set to your tastes.

8. DVD Player, Hooked it up to the TV with component cables as the connection. The player is a 2001 model and is pretty basic. We placed a Star Wars DVD in because of the THX calibration (Google it) and was utterly amazed that it looked that good. We did not do a calibration and left all of the settings alone. The TV has a built in surround sound emulator that can be turned on and off if you do not have external speakers. The sound was absolutely great compared to what we had before.I am sure that it does not match a true 5:1 or 7:1 but in no way is it weak as other reviewers have claimed.

9. Update on DLNA (12-20-2008),(additional info posted under comments, 1-19-2009)You do not need to install the software if you have Vista Home Premium,Vista Ultimate, or Windows Home Server. The DLNA hooked up while I was trying to figure out the instructions in the manual. That is about the only good I can say about this at this point. The instructions in the user manual are almost worthless. It makes it seem that you have to install the software which is not the case if you have any of the 3 OS above. The DLNA found my extensive home photo library and that part works OK. The USB on the side of the TV will not support anything but FAT 16/32 formatted keys.It will not allow the running of an external hard drive on the port. Home Movies and an extensive music library will not play on the TV.DLNA supports a very limited set of formats and codec's. Nothing that I have will run in either of these two categories without an error message "format not supported". How many folks will want to convert hundreds of gigs of home movies and music? After doing a little research I am finding that there is software that will sit between your storage devices and the TV that will convert on the fly.It will be till January sometime that I have a chance to try that out.

Final Thoughts on DLNA, I am disappointed that Samsung did not choose formats that more closely resembled what the general population has sitting on their home computers. The use of converters and the shortcomings here are a major let down as compared to the rest of the TV.I will say that my photo library looks stunning on the TV.Samsung has a way to go to support home movies and music. While this is a major shortfall it does not take away the viewing quality that this TV produces when watched.Just be aware that you need to be somewhat Techy to get DLNA working.

10. Infolink, The INFOLINK found everything the first time. News, Sports, Weather, and Stocks etc can be programmed fairly easy.

Final comments, the channel search found double channels on all of the major broadcast affiliates (NBC, ABC, FOX, ETC). It is easy to go through the menu system and tell which is analog and which is digital. Delete the analog as you can see a major difference in the quality. One can hit an "info" button on the remote and it will give you all of the technical stuff on the channels. I really like the feature that tells you which format the broadcasts are in, 4:3 or 16:9, and the resolution 420i, 720P, 1080i. The HD channels and shows themselves are clearly awesome as you see features on the shows that you have never seen before, blemishes on the actor's faces, individual strands of hair, subtle makeup differences in shades ETC. The swivel stand is nice and the TV itself is not that heavy. It comes with a micro fiber cleaning cloth. Only time will tell if this model will give us the longevity that we are accustomed to. We are totally pleased with our purchase.
Thanks
GM

Peerless ST650 Tilt Wall Mount for 32" to 56" Displays (Black) Review

Peerless ST650 Tilt Wall Mount for 32' to 56' Displays
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Peerless ST650 Universal TV Tilt mount to mount my Mitsubishi LT-52246 52" LCD television to the wall. I rate this mount 5-Stars because:

1)The color matches the TV perfectly, which makes the mount almost invisible.
2)It can be adjusted to most any tilt position with a medium amount of effort.
3)Even though it is a Tilt Mount, it still hugs the wall very close making the installation super clean and tight.
4)After attaching the TV (which was extremely easy), I immediately had the feeling the TV was very secure.
5)The Peerless ST650 is priced in the middle of the road when compared to other TV mounts.
6)The kit included every possible combination of fasteners and spacers you could ever require while mounting your LCD TV.
7)Although Peerless states this mount is for LCD television up to 50 inches and my Mitsubishi Diamond Series LT-52246 is a 52" television, Mitsubishi themselves recommended this exact mount in their owners manual I read online prior to purchasing it. It's a perfect fit and very secure.

I have no complaints concerning the Peerless ST650!

this swing arm is a sturdy and well built piece of equipment. i was a bit skeptical since it costs half as much as the competitors but it was every bit as well made as the others. visually i wouldnt want it to show so if that's what your looking for i wouldnt get this. the only issue i had with it was the hollow wall anchors they give you are horrible. i couldnt even get the bolts to screw into them. i ended up going to home depot and buying toggle bolts.

BOUGHT THIS TV ON THE 3RD OF DECEMBER VIA AMAZON.COM HOPING IT WOULD GET HERE SOONER THAN IT DID.I RECEIVED THE TV ON THE 14TH OF DECEMBER.NOT THAT BAD, BUT THIS TV SAT IN A WAREHOUSE FOR OVER 3 DAYS, BEFORE I FINALLY STARTED CALLING AND COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DELIVERY TIME.THE DELIVERY TIME HAD BEEN "PUSHED BACK" TWICE.I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRAVEL TIME WAS OVER 5 HOURS ONE WAY FROM THE WAREHOUSE TO MY HOME AND THEY WERE WAITING FOR MORE ORDERS TO COME AVAILABLE IN MY AREA BEFORE THEY MADE THE 10 HOUR ROUND TRIP. (THEY DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE THE TRIP FOR JUST ME, ALTHOUGH NOBODY SEEMED TO MIND TAKING MY $200 DOLLARS FOR DELIVERY FEE.)I AM PLEASED WITH THE TV I RECEIVED.I DID FIRST WHAT EVERYONE SAYS TO DO. I BOUGHT ONE LOCALLY.IT HAD SOUND PROBLEMS, WAS MORE MONEY, AND IN THE END, IT WAS RETURNED.I BOUGHT THIS TV VIA AMAZON FOR $400 DOLLARS LESS THAN I PAID FOR THE OTHER ONE. (INCLUDING THE SHIPPING FEE)I WAS SCARED AT FIRST, BUT IT ALL WORKED OUT.HERE'S SOME POINTS OF INTEREST ABOUT THIS TV.

1.IT IS JUST A MONITOR, IT HAS NO CABLE TUNER IN IT, MEANING YOU MUST HAVE A CABLE BOX, TIVO, VCR, ECT, TO CHANGE YOUR CHANNELS FOR YOU.

2.IT DOES HAVE SPEAKERS IN IT, HOWEVER, YOU WILL FIND THEM VERY CHEAP SOUNDING, MY COMPUTER SPEAKERS SEEM TO BE OF BETTER QUALITY.THIS IS NOT A JOKE, AND I AM NOT KIDDING, IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOME TYPE OF STEREO SYSTEM, LIKE SURROUND SOUND TO HOOK UP TO, YOU WILL NOT BE AMAZED WITH THE SOUND.THE SPEAKERS ARE OF VERY BAD QUALITY.ALTHOUGH I KNEW THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT ONE.

3.THE VIDEO QUALITY IS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD, I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HERE, THE COLOR IS GREAT, NO GHOST IMAGES, WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY.

4.THIS TV HAS AN S-VIDEO #2 HOOK UP ON THE SIDE, PLUS THE SOUND HOOK UP IS THERE AS WELL.MAKING CONNECTION OF KIDS GAMING EQUIPMENT, VIDEO CAMERAS, ECT A SNAP.THE TV I HAD BEFORE WAS UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM, I PRACTICALLY HAD TO STAND ON MY HEAD CONNECT THINGS.

5.THE DELIVERY PERSON WHO ACTUALLY DELIVERED THIS TV WAS OUTSTANDING.HE BROUGHT IT INTO MY HOME, UNPACKED IT, AND WAITED UNTIL I TESTED THE TV BEFORE LEAVING.THEN HE TOOK ALL THE PACKAGING WITH HIM. (YOU KNOW HOW HARD PACKAGING IS TO GET RID OF WITH ALL THE FOAM, PAPER, PLASTIC, AND CARDBOARD.)YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT.

5.I AM GIVING A 4 STAR REVIEW DUE TO THE CHEAP SPEAKERS AND BULKY REMOTE THAT CANNOT BE USED TO CHANGE CHANNELS.

IN THE END I HAVE THIS TV HOOKED TO MY TIVO AND SURROUND SOUND, I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE PURCHASE FOR THE MONEY, AND WOULDN'T HESITATE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE IF NEEDED.SEARS SELLS THE IDENTICAL TV FOR OVER $400 MORE.THEY WILL NOT PRICE MATCH, I TRIED.THANKS FOR READING MY REVIEW.

Samsung LNT5265F 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LNT5265F 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have only watched it tonight, but so far everything looks great. I could definitely see some of the things that people have questioned on this thread, but the settings change took care of anything I could find with it, but then again I am not a super videophile...I know just enough to be dangerous.

One thing I noticed while messing with the settings is that they definitely make a big difference in getting to an ultimate image on this LCD. Furthermore, this model appears to be very flexible, and as such most of the non catrostophic issues I am hearing about on different forums can be cleared up if you are using the correct settings. The settings that I am using are below in case you care. The most important one of the lot was the HDMI Black=Low.

Samsung LN-T5265F Bad Mamma Jamma
Scientific Atlantic 8300HD over HDMI

Mode=Movie
Contrast=85
Brightness=42
Sharpness=25
Color=60
Tint=G50-R50
Backlight=5
Tone=Warm1
Black Adjust=low
Dynamic Contrast=low
Gamma=-1
Color Space=Auto
White Balance=all 15
Color Control=all 15
Edge Enhancement=off
YvYcc=off
DNR and DNIe: Off
Energy Saving=Medium
HDMI Black=Low

A few other things to note, especially if you are in the market. I bought mine from Amazon, and the seller with the low price that day was OfficeDepot. They have a subsidiary called TechDepot that sells consumer stuff; didn't know that until after the order was handed off from Amazon. I got the low price I wanted, and have someone to go work with in person if something goes wrong.

Delivery came from Pilot Freight, and the delivery guy was totally cool about me getting it out and sending a signal to it before I signed the slip and went beyond the point of no return for refusal of delivery. Offer your delivery guy a drink...they should have no problem sticking it out for five minutes while they are sipping a cold bottled water on a hot day.

I also wanted to mention that I got my HDMI cables from monoprice and they are excellent cables given the insanely low price compared to other places. Don't let the kid at Best Buy try to talk you into Monster unless he is going to let you use his employee discount. I even called monoprice tech support to ask a quick question, and they were really helpful, I got it answered in less than 5 minutes from when I dialed them.

Other than a few other things to figure out, this has been a wicked purchase so far. My wife is really happy with it, and even though it was extravagant, is glad that we got the 52" instead of the 46". I am putting together a desktop pc that will go in my living room that will play Blu-Ray so the ultimate test will be in a few weeks once I dump Casino Royale BD onto the 1080p native resolution.

Bottom line is that I did as much research as I could, took my time in making the purchase, and I am really happy so far with what I got. It is a great LCD, and with the HDMI 1.3 support, you are as future proofed as you can get today. Anyone not sure should definitely buy the Samsung...much better than the Sony, and I think that once all the reviews are in on CNET, this gen of Samsung LCDs will be number one on their Editors Choice list, surpassing the Sony.

Sorry for the rant, but when I was researching my purchase, a lot of what I learned was from posts like these. Hopefully what I am posting here will help others make a good purchasing decision. Good luck. Gotta get back to the Discovery HD Channel now! Not sure how I EVER watched anything in SD before.

Product Description:
For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 52-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT5265F is a good choice. Besides opffering full 1080p resolution the LNT5265F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.

Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY Professional Series 50-Inch HD-Ready Flat-Panel Plasma Display Review

Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY Professional Series 50 inch HD-Ready Flat-Panel Plasma Display
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been researching plasma screens for about a year before I finally decided on a Panasonic.I was headed towards the consumer model with all the options, (which was a Consumer Reports best buy and the top rated CNET plasma), but then I found this model. It's the professional version with the same screen. It comes with inputs for component, composite, s-video, and PC.You can order other input cards for HMDI or any other input device if you want it.It doesn't have speakers or a tuner, which is okay for me since I have a DVR and I use my surround system. All I needed was a great looking screen and this is it.I shopped around for pricing on all the shopping sites, and there are some shady places that sell opened boxes or reconditioned screens for a "better price".Some try the old bait and switch or try to sell you the massive extended warranty.Panasonic won't honor the warranty from some of these stores too!Beware! The best price from a reputable place is from Tiger Direct.I hadn't ordered from them before, but I figured I'd have Amazon's buyer protection if I needed it.They shipped my order the same day and it arrived six days later via ABF Freight.I had ordered a Peerless SF-660P wall mount for it that arrived the same day, thank goodness!(I got it from the Peerless Industries website, if you're interested.) Everything is perfect and I couldn't be happier with how this screen looks on my wall.It has the best picture of any screen I've looked at.I highly recommend it.

Product Description:
A member of Panasonic's seventh-generation Professional Series plasma displays, the 50-inch, widescreen TH-50PHD7UY is ideal for high-performance corporate installations, offering flexible and expandable input options as well as virtuoso features like horizontal/vertical image orientation and multi-screen options to create images as large as 200 inches in diameter (using 16 separate TH-50PHD7UY displays).
The monitor features super-high contrast (up to 3,000:1) and a native pixel count of 1,366 x 768 and can accept image inputs with resolutions of 1080p (24p/24sf), 1080i (50/60), 720p (50/60), 480p/i, and 576 p/i. It supports a range of PC input signals, including resolutions of VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, and UXGA.
The TH-50PHD7UY is a display only, not a television per se, which means you'll need a DTV or cable set-top box fro any television programming you wish to view. It's also as basic as possible, beyond its many core display technologies, so you can tailor it to your application(s) without paying for features (like speakers) which you may well have no use for. The detailed user's manual provides an exhaustive list of optional accessories and their model numbers, from additional terminal (input) boards to assorted wall mounts.
The panel's multi-function slot lets you add or exchange a variety of optional IT networking or audio/video input boards. Further, the display boasts significant improvements over previous Professional Series models in the areas of peak brightness (more then 10 percent higher than earlier generations), displayable colors, and service life.
Onboard picture-improving technologies include Panasonic's Real Black Drive System, a Deep Black filter, a Super Real Gamma System, Adaptive Automatic Gain Control (AGC), Motion Picture Disturbance (MPD) noise reduction, 3D color management, and active I/P (interlace/progressive) conversion.
The newly improved Super Real Gamma System reproduces gradations in brightness steps equivalent to 2,048 shades, with up to 8.58 billion colors to produce astonishing image depth and ultra-subtle nuances in dark scenes. A new Multi-facet Asymmetrical Configuration Hyper-pixel (MACH) panel features a bounded cell structure and new phosphor material that dramatically improves the panel's service life to 60,000 hours while boosting peak brightness and increasing the display's resistance to static-image burn-in to the level of CRT displays. (Panasonic defines service life as the period during which the display's light output is 50 percent or more of its original light output.)
Adaptive Automatic Gain Control (AGC) increases contrast while maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio; Motion Picture Disturbance detects motion patterns that generate noise and adjusts the image to maximum quality without diminishing the quality of stationary background objects; a 3D Color Management system provides finer independent control and corrects hue, saturation, and brightness; and Active I/P (interlace/progressive) Conversion reduces interlace-to-progressive conversion noise.
The Dual Picture feature combines any 2 audio/video signals and displays them in 3 different modes (2 picture-in-picture and 1 picture-out-picture modes); digital zoom enlarges a portion of an image up to 4 times normal size for full-screen display.
This ultra-thin (3.7-inch) display offers a wide viewing angle of more than 160 degrees, so it's easy to read even if viewers are sitting or standing well off-axis from a front-on view.
The panel is equipped with a host of energy-saving functions, and its Contrast Automatic Tracking System (C.A.T.S.) senses ambient light and adjusts brightness and gradation accordingly. The addition of "menu" and "enter" buttons to the front panel gives you control of onscreen display functions without recourse to using the supplied remote control.
What's in the Box
TV, remote control, remote batteries (2 AA), 2 ferrite cores (small, large), 2 fixing bands, a warranty card, a user's manual, and an AC power cord.

VideoSecu (3K9) TV LCD monitor swing Wall Mount for most 23" to 37" TV LCD and Display Review

VideoSecu TV LCD monitor swing Wall Mount for most 23' to 37' TV LCD and Display
Average Reviews:

There's not a tremendous amount to say about a wall mount. I didn't pay a lot for this mount, but I was very pleased with it. It came with some big wallboard-mount screws and anchors. They look good, but I didn't use them, so I don't know how well they work. I was mounting onto a 2x4 and used lag screws instead.

The total travel length of this mount is not huge (15" or so?), but it was great for the application I had. It operates smoothly. There's a little bit of rotational play in the TV, but it seems to hold whatever position it's tilted to.

I wasn't sure my project was really going to work out, so I didn't want to spend a lot. But the whole thing worked out great, and I felt proud of how little I'd spent.

It says for Samsung but fits other brand TV's! Why pay four times as much retail?

I bought this for my 47" Panasonic Plasma and had it mounted in minutes. A quick glance at the instructions and I was on my way. Several different sized bolts, for the TV mount side for different TV holes, with lock washers and spacer washers make it a breeze. Found the studs and marked the wall. Drilled pilot holes and used a ratchet to bolt it level to the wall with the use of the built in level. It was so quick! The only thing I had help on was when I hung the Plasma on the bracket (had my sons tell me higher lower. In all I spent under forty minutes only because I lowered the bracket about six inches for better viewing while reclined in my chair. Bonus HDMI cable comes with in the box.
