Sony KDL-46EX701 Bravia LED HDTV 1080p 120Hz Review

I first bought the Vizio 42 inch VIA with internet apps. The TV just did not seem responsive at times, and you could not hook into your home network. I noticed this Sony and read into it. It allows you to connect to your home network and access video, music and other files off your home computer. It also has about 60 or so apps. A few months ago this TV was around $2000.00. I bought it at Sam's Club for half of that price. Amazing picture quality, way better than the Vizio LCD. So for abouth the same price as the Vizio 42" LCD, I got a 46" LED LCD SONY HDTV with all the things I wanted. Also the TV comes with the WIFI adapter to connect wirelessly to your home router. I believe the first shipment of this model did not come with the adapter and had to purchased seperately for around $75. So that is a nice addition. This TV is perfect for my family. Since we have gotten rid of DISH and cable. I just use windows media center to record all my favorite shows and then watch them by accessing them through the Sony Bravia Network connection on the TV. Also have a $9 Netflix subscription to stream videos instantly so the kids get to watch their shows as well. Since we are hardly home to watch TV with 3 children and full time employment, my wife and I decided to go this route. Much cheaper for us!
Get this TV it is great. JK

VIZIO VF551XVT 55-Inch XVT-Series TruLED 240 Hz SPS HDTV Review

VIZIO VF551XVT 55 inch XVT-Series TruLED 240 Hz SPS HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
VIZIO's VF551XVT is proof that VIZIO can produce not just high value TVs but high performance ones as well.Currently the lowest priced LED-backlit LCD TV with local dimming capability, the VF551XVT offers similar performance to TVs from the name brands which may sell for up to twice the price.

The set's "240 SPS" processing is not "true" 240 Hz, but is really 120 Hz processing with a scanning backlight to effectively get 240 "scenes" per second. The feature does reduce motion blur on things like sports and live TV broadcasts, but we found that it added an unnatural video-like look to movies, not unlike other brands' motion smoothing/motion interpolation technology. Also, off-axis viewing is fairly typical for LCD TVs, turning blacks to bluish gray and generally losing color saturation outside a 90 degree viewing angle (45 degrees in either direction).

But viewed on axis (straight ahead), or slightly off axis, the TV produces exceptional black levels for an LCD TV.Dark films on Blu-ray such as "Blade Runner" and "The Dark Knight" produced inky black images with very good shadow detail and crisp image delineation with no noticeable haloing.Colors also appear accurate, with good flesh tones once the set is properly calibrated.

The VF551XVT lacks any kind of internet streaming or IPTV features - this will be coming early next year in the VF552XVT.It's also significantly thicker than the latest LED-backlit TVs from Samsung and LG, but if you're looking for a big flat panel LCD TV with excellent contrast, it's hard to go wrong with the VIZIO.

A complete review of the VF551XVT is available on Big Picture Big Sound (dot com).

First of all you can get the tv at best buy during sales for 2199 and then get them to match a coupon for sears for 10% off.
Secondly, there are no voice issues if you use the right kind of hdmi cable...get the brand new updated version and you won't have
any problems.Third, do yourself a favor and buy the new ps3 to play your movies on..even if you don't need a game system.
It has wireless networking, it's down to 299 and it will display all your photos and music on your tv, it's like having a 120
gig hard drive hooked up to your tv with blueray capability.I have been looking for a year for the right tv and i knew this
was it.The picture is fully backlit, instead of edgelit like the Samsung, that makes a big difference in the details. The
other thing is that the picture is absolutely stunning. The LED technology will save you money over plasmas and last longer...
approximately 7-15 years longer. It doesn't run as hot as plasmas, the electricity cost you a lot less, there's no fear of burn in,
the picture is unbelievable and there's several places to use it as a computer monitor.Pertaining to other people's comments
about the power light, it actually blends into the background when you're watching tv or a movie, it's not bothersome at all, but
in the case that it does bother you really bad, hey, just get a sharpie, lol. Some of you reading this are wondering what tv to
buy.If you do your research, consumer reports, cnet and all those, they will tell you this is one of the best in the 55" category.
The contrast ratio is 2,000,000 to 1, the automotion ms response time is 4 or less because of the 240 hz, not as fast as a plasma but how many people were complaining when there lcd's were just 120 hz...no one was.Anyway, good luck with your decision but at the end
of the day if you buy this tv, you'll be happy.

Samsung UN32C5000 32-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LED HDTV (Black) Review

Samsung UN32C5000 32 inch 1080p 60 Hz LED HDTV
Average Reviews:

Okay first off let me say that I think Samsung does make some of THE best TVs out there. But this isn't one of them.I have been looking for a high quality TV to play games on and for movies for a while now.I got an e-mail from Amazon stating that the new 2010 models from Samsung were now available.I thought great timing since I just got some back-pay owed to me.I wanted a 32" TV since the room this was going into is not very big. I looked around the internet but there were no reviews yet, just the manufacture description. So I took the gamble and bought this one. I received the TV three days ago, and have been bummed since.Okay for the review. First impressions:Beautiful TV, I really like the styling and glossy finish.I actually laughed at how skinny the box was.Set up was not hard at all and they provide cable management to hide the cables from the back.THEN I turned it on.QUICK NOTE* It states that it "absorbs ambient light and virtually eliminates reflections", I say BS!It has the worse amount of reflection on any TV I have ever seen.My computer monitor sits on the opposite wall (about 14' away) and I can easily read text from it.When trying to watch the news, I couldn't see half the screen because of the reflection, it is that bad. If you know anything about HDTV, then you know that the Black Level is the number one factor in picture depth and quality. The black on this set is not black, though you'll probably only achieve that on a plasma, here it is a semi dark grey even after adjustment.Again disappointing since I saw a deeper black on their own 32" 360 series at Walmart that was about $500 cheaper too. Now for the biggest complaint, yes there's more, it is the amount of back-light bleed. The top corners have a grey fan shaped bleed that extend about 5" inwards, in the middle on the left half of the screen there are four large bleed throughs about 7" square each, and a 6" bleed in the middle of the right half of the screen. These bleed throughs or clouding is visible even in bright images. It makes the image wavy like. Also of note for you gamers out there, the Game Mode is ONLY available with HDMI. I have the older XBOX 360 so I use the Component cables which means no Game Mode for me.I also have the 360's PC VGA cable, but again no Game Mode and you with those you cannot adjust sharpness, color, or black level. I did find another review here on Amazon for the 55" model, same series, and it looks to have the same problems. As you can probably already guess, I will be returning this.

***Updated 3/24 -- Okay I decided to change the ranking from 2 stars to 4 stars in that I have since calmed down and knowing that it was just a bad panel. So for anyone interested in this set, please take the review with a grain of salt (I also decided to leave it up, instead of deleting it).Overlooking the bad panel part, here is a few impressions of the set.For one, it is a beautiful set, very dark and glossy.Though just know that the screen is very glossy, black mirror like, but in a light-controlled room it shouldn't be a problem.I didn't get a chance to view any blu-rays on this so I don't know its potential. I did watch a DVD through an XBOX 360 (Kung Fu Panda) using component cables and it looked fantastic, honestly the best I've seen it.Didn't get a chance to go online with XBOX Live, but I didn't see any lag in the games I did play.I also didn't get to calibrate the set (since I was returning it), but out of the box, colors were good, blacks were not ink black still, but fairly dark with good shadow detail. I also found that this IS edge-lit, but all of the literature kept saying LED Backlighting, If I known that I wouldn't have bought it since I personally don't really like edge-lit displays since they typically have uniformity issues and flash-lighting (looks like spot lights from the edges), though not all edge-lit displays have this.Hopefully If you decide to give it a try, you will get a better panel.

Samsung UN46C8000 46-Inch 1080p 3D 240 Hz LED HDTV Review

Samsung UN46C8000 46 inch 1080p 3D 240 Hz LED HDTV

This TV is absolutely stunning. I was actually waiting for the C9000 to come out, but that TV's price is way over the limit. I found out that this TV which is the next step down and actually has the exact same technology as the C9000 minus the touchscreen remote (which can be bought seperately) and the slim profile, not a big deal considering the TV already looks beautiful and is half the price or less then a C9000!

In all honesty, I think this TV has one of the nicest pictures I've ever seen. One example is the pin-point dimming, which has garnered a lot of criticsm and skeptisism. I have seen the production TV model live and I must tell you, I think it's better then local-dimming and I'll tell you why... Unless there is a new panel that is made to fix the local-dimming "halo affect", this is currently the only way to get outradgeous contrast levels without that problem. The pin-point dimming on this TV dramatically lowers the dark spots on the screen in certain area's without a halo affect and actually goes completely pitch black when watching movies with dark screens just like a local-dimming TV. I think this TV actually excels at the dimming part over a local-dimming TV because it creates supurb black levels without any halo affects. That's a huge deal for me. Next is the color accuracy of this panel, I think the whites and colors on this TV are probably better then I've ever seen. Sure Plasma's can sometimes have better color temperatures, but they will not pop out of the screen with ambience like this TV shows. This TV is sharp looking and beautiful and it displays wonderful 3D and High-definition like never before.

Last, but not least... this tv is LOADED with features, easily making it one of the most feature rich TV's there is on the market. It's completely wireless, has 4-hdmi conenctions, has internet applications and streaming capabilities and best yet, it does it well! I have done a lot of research and have compared this TV with it's newest competitors and this one is it. Don't just take my word for it, go see it for yourselves and you'll just see what I am talking about.

Large LCD Screen Cleaner System safe for HD LCD and Plasma TVs Review

Large LCD Screen Cleaner System safe for HD LCD and Plasma TVs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After getting some Q:Electronics ear buds (http://www.amazon.com/Q-electronics-Noise-isolating-Ear-Buds/dp/B002MXWNRG/ref=cm_cr-mr-title) that were pretty nice, I decided to see what else this new brand I'd never heard of had to offer.Based on the ear buds, their quality seemed pretty decent and their prices really competitive, so my search brought up this screen cleaner kit.

Pros:
1.The first thing that caught my eye (which it probably has for you by now that you've seen this product listing) is the aesthetics of the product. This product has a very modern, sleek design that looks really cool next to my Sony Bravia TV.I've had other screen cleaning kits before that I have to just shove in to a drawer because I don't want it out because it just looks ugly, but this kit is actually something that I don't mind keeping out next to the TV.The nice thing about keeping it out is that I actually use the kit regularly (like more than just once every 2-3 months.)Being in a dusty environment, I need to continually clean the screen and now its not to much of a bother.I've also been using this with great results on my computer monitors.
2.The kit actually ships pretty compact and the stand just snaps together in about 2 seconds and the kit is pretty much ready to use.
3.The instructions were decent--actually showing recommended use of the kit, i.e. brush off the larger particulate with the soft-bristled brush and then using the triangle pad to clean off the screen.
4.The triangle pad actually does really well in getting in to the corners--like the design a lot.
5....and of course, what most people really care about most...DOES IT LEAVE STREAKS?So far so good on the streak front--I've been using this kit for a couple weeks and so far I am getting streak-free results from using the kit.The spray is actually pretty good on other things too.I have some stainless steel appliances that it works great on to polish up.I just don't know how it will look after several months of use and the pad starts to get dirty.I will likely have to find a way to clean off the pad to keep it from just spreading dirt around. The other key thing on using this kit is not to get the screen (or pad) too wet. When it has a chance to clean and buff together, then it works best on preventing streaks. If you get the screen too wet, you may still end up with streaks, so just use this in moderation--enough to get the job done.I think this concept applies to many screen cleaning kits.

Cons:
As good as this kit is, there are a couple points I want to bring up that would help improve it some.
1.I would like to have a nice micro-fiber cloth with the kit that I can use for some small touch-up work (in case I did end up with a streak or two); I think adding a cloth would be a nice addition.Micro-fiber cloths are relatively cheap anyway, so it isn't a big deal to just get a separate cloth--would just be nice if it did come with the kit.
2.I'm not quite sure what to do when I need a re-fill on the spray.I will check back on Amazon to see if Q:Electronics has added some re-fills for the spray themselves, or possibly just go straight to the distributer (HandStands) or manufacturer (Q:Electronics)to see what they can do for re-fills.

Overall, I highly recommend this product and I've been impressed with this out-of-nowhere brand.I may try out their mobile device screen cleaning kit for my Blackberry and Digital Cameras since they are always getting stuff on their screens...stay tuned!

Samsung UN55C8000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV Review

First off I want to be clear about the kind of review this is intended to be. I am not a profession TV rater. I am not a videophile. I am a regular Joe and I am reviewing this for the regular Joe who is thinking about spending more than usual on a good quality television. During the next few months, I'm sure you can find a more professional review from the usual places... But for now, this is my impressions.

CORNER LIGHT: After reading many reviews on last years B8000 and this year's C7000, I was worried about the light that emits from the corners. I've seen displays of last year's B8000 and this year's C7000 and have VERY easily seen what people are talking about. I took a big gamble in purchasing this TV before I read if people were having issues with this C8000. So let me say... After watching this TV for about 5 hours per day for 3 days... I have NOT seen the light coming from the edges as seen on other sets. And believe me I've been looking. I tried to find it watching the HD feed on Time Warner Cable, Blu-ray's from the PS3, Blu-Ray's from the Samsung 3D Blu-Ray player, watching at night, during the day... Nothing. I just do not see it!

LOOKS: This TV looks just amazing. It has a VERY dark black screen. It looks as beautiful turned off as it does on. I was nervous about the brush metal look, but it actually looks very nice and compliments the new chromed four-legged stand.

PICTURE: The picture clarity looks incredible. It's as if I'm discovering HD for the first time. This set replaces a Samsung DLP set, so of course this is a vast improvement. Having said that, I have a newer plasma in the bedroom and this set looks much better than that. As with all new LED sets with 240 Hz, there is a bit of the Spanish Soap Opera/Home Video look to it. Some people really like this, some people don't. I really like it. For those of you that don't, you can always turn this feature down or off. To me this makes the picture look very clear and it makes it stand out from the other sets.

3D: Along with this TV I purchased the Samsung 3D Bluray player so I can get the 3D startup kit for free. Turning the 3D feature on and connecting the glasses was easy. The intro to Monsters v. Aliens was very cool. The opening scene in outer space looked incredible. The ball tied to a paddle part was funny and kinda made me jump a little. I haven't spent too much time with 3D but I did notice that there were some scenes in the movie that had a double image while wearing the glasses. It doesn't happen a lot, but it is noticeable. You can see this right away during the church scene at the beginning of the movie. It was a little annoying. I'm hoping that this is the kind of stuff that gets ironed out with a firmwear update, or as more content is released, they learn to fix it.

OnlineTV: This is also a very new area for me. I never understood the need for me to want apps on my TV... But its actually kina cool. I've tried a few apps but my favorite by far is the Pandora app. I'm a big fan ofPandora and this app I actually like better on my TV than online or the iPhone. The only thing I hate is that Samsung did not have Wifi built in. I think pricing this set at the $3000+ mark should be enough to include it with the set and not require me to drop another $80 for the USB adapter. I just hardwired it, but that's another wire I don't like dealing with.

USB: I wanted to mention that this set allows you to connect a USB external hard drive and play music, photo's and movies directly from the HDD. I have a Western Digital 320GB Passport filled with movies and music, and I was able to navigate the files structure in the drive using the remote quite easily. And it played all the files formats I threw at it. Pros:
No corner light!!!
Very dark screen.
Very clear picture
Pandora Samsung App
3D was surprisingly fun
USB external HDD capable
and... NO CORNER LIGHT!

Cons:
Slight double images on 3D.
Wifi requires an $80 USB adaptor.

Overall I am very satisfied with the UN55C8000. Even with the few CONS, this set to this average Joe is a definite 5 star! As I spend more time with the set, I'll be sure to update this review if I find something worth mentioning.

Please feel free to ask me questions and I'll try my best to answer them. I know how nerve wrecking buying a big ticket item such as this is... So I would be glad to help as much as I can.

Panasonic TC-P46C2 46-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV Review

Panasonic TC-P46C2 46 inch 720p Plasma HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not an expert, but I am an enthusiast, who loves watching tv and movies, and I continue to be blown away by Panasonic, this is my 3rd Panasonic hd set and I love it,for the price points of Panasonic plasmas, versus the competition, there is just no contest. I can see a lot of improvements on this set compared to my 5 year old 37inch plasma, the blacks are extremely dark and colorstrue and bright, and color adjusting is more sensitive, the set is very intuitive to its source and self adjusts format for each channel, 3:2 pull down adjusts to 24fps sources, pixel orbiter to prevent image retention, the just setting is improved for a more true less stretched picture, picture is very smooth and fluid,no dead pixels, no ghosting, fast action is great with the 600hz refresh rate, the tuner is improved for more free hd channels, the sound also improved with 2 10 watt speakers. I do have some nit picks though, the surface of the screen being large picks up alot of reflection from any light source and it is difficult to watch with out the windows covered and lights off, the remote is not universal, and I'm not a great fan of vera link because all of my components are not Panasonic, this set also has a CATS feature that adjusts the set to the lighting conditions of the room, while I appreciate the thought, this feature hinders viewing and you will want to set it to off on all your picture modes for optimal viewing,no vga, only 2 hdmi ports, speakers, although sound is good, are on the bottom of the set facing down in to the table. I can live with all of this though, it's a high quality BIG plasma set with an outstanding picture I will enjoy for years to come that I got for an incredibly low price.

Product Description:
Offering excellent picture performance, Panasonic's 46-inch VIERA TC-P46C2 Plasma HDTV features a 720p high-definition resolution and 600Hz Sub-field Drive for superb motion clarity. This and other models in the C2 line offer Panasonic's VIERA Image Viewer feature, which enables you to play slideshows of JPEG images stored on SD memory cards, as well as the VIERA Link feature for controlling a variety of compatible components--from Blu-ray Disc players to digital cameras--through a single remote.
Adhering to Panasonic's commitment to the environment, this VIERA model--as well as all 2010 models--features improved power consumption and meets the new, more stringent Energy Star 4.0 requirements. And you'll get a long Plasma panel life of up to 100,000 hours--more than 30 years of viewing when watched 8 hours a day--before the brightness of the panel decreases to half.

Key Features

600Hz Sub-field Drive: 600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology, which converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects (see an illustration of 600Hz technology).

VIERA Image Viewer: View full-HD images with the integrated SD card slot, enabling you to view JPEG photos captured from your digital camera or camcorder on the big screen. Navigate your images via an easy-to-use thumbnail display.

VIERA Link: Allows the interlinked operation of various AV devices--from DVD and Blu-ray Disc players to home theater sound systems to digital cameras and camcorders--using only the VIERA remote control by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable (see pop-up illustration).

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

    Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
    Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5
