(More customer reviews)I'm using this to mount a 1.4" deep 50" plasma. Since we have a walkway through the Den just past the TV, I wanted to to be really close to the wall. At just 1" from the wall, this mount does a great job. It's easy to install, locks the TV in place with the extra locking brackets, and came with all the mounting hardware I needed (well, except a few flat washers that I prefer to add). This manufacturer (ProMounts) does sell a thinner bracket (only .43" from the wall), but I thought it might make routing the wires behind the TV problematic. Since I wasn't sure, I opted for a little more head-room.
Now, being that it's really low-profile, I can't get my hand behind the TV to change connections or even install the locks. You need a pretty sturdy telescoping magnet to remove/install the locks, but they're available at most hardware stores. It's pretty easy to lift the TV up, bring out the bottom, and set it back on the top bracket in order to attach anything, although I suggest this is a two-person job for a 50" TV. I don't know of any "kick stand" to make this process any easier, and I can't think of any way to install a padlock (or remove one if it ever was installed). I'm hoping that any criminals that stop by the house aren't packing a telescopic magnet...
