(More customer reviews)I recently purchased a 65" Panasonic Plasma television and picked up this mount for hanging it. Happy to report, I had no problems using this mount (DC65FT). I've read where other people found the built-in level to be off, however it was perfectly centered on my install, I even compared it against my 4 foot level. The stud finder is rather cheap, but if you don't already have one, it should work just fine. Still test with a small nail to ensure you are hitting the center of the stud. You want the lag bolts to bite really well into the stud. For my install, I was able to hit 3 studs since mine are 12" on center, but for most people 2 should be just fine. I just wanted to be sure my 65" was well supported.
The metal mount is sturdy and well built, supports up to 200 lbs. (my 65" weighs around 135), and it came with lots of hardware for various different tv manufactures. I really can't see paying a couple hundred for a more "high-end" mount when this one is more than adequate.
I'm using the fixed setup, but if I ever wanted to use the tilt option, it's just a matter of inserting the tilt bar (literally a two minute job). In the fixed position, there's probably a 2 inch clearance from the back, more like 3" if you use the tilt bar. To make the connections easier, I picked up a few elbow connectors to ensure none of my cables were pinched by the tight space - on my tv the plugs are coming directly out the back, not on the bottom like some others I've seen (LCD monitors).
Oh, and the unit came with a wire management system as well. I didn't need it, but seems like it would conceal all your wires if your home theater setup required it. And the covers are paintable in case you want them to match your wall color (they are a light tan out of the box).
Total install time was about 45 minutes, I read through everything first, laid out the parts I needed and then took my time. I didn't want to mess anything up.
In the end, good purchase and my wife even gave her approval - always a plus. I plan to buy another one to hang the 42" Panny in the bedroom.
