(More customer reviews)For the most part, this mount was easy to place, level, and assemble. It's beefy metal parts so it might help to have a second person when leveling it. It has lots of holes across the back to ensure that you hit at least two studs regardless of where you want to position it. But the instructions do recommend that you hit three studs for a guaranteed secure mount (overkill in my opinion but I wasn't taking chances with my TV either). Anyway, given the width of this contraption positioning it to reach three studs limits the placement quite a bit.
Once the cleat is on the wall you have to fasten the arms to the back of the TV. It comes with a big long accessory pack with all sorts of different sized bolts and a few washers for this task. My TV used the largest size bolts and unfortunately, none of the washers worked with this bolt (did they forget to give me some parts?). The instructions were quite clear that a washer MUST be used when installing the arms so I headed off to the hardware store to get some substitute parts. This was the reason for my 4-star rating.
This wall mount is not for the fickle at heart. If you can pick a tilt angle and stick with it, this mount is for you. If you think you'll be adjusting it regularly, definitely look elsewhere. Depending on your desired angle, adjusting it can also raise and lower the height of the TV considerably. So for some adjustments you might have to take the whole TV off and move the cleat on the wall -- not something you'll ever do casually.
Once the TV is up the locking feature works well too. You have to maneuver the TV just right to get it up and off the cleat. This is a very nice feature to ensure that the TV stays on the wall when you want it to stay on the wall.
So this thing did the trick for me and I'd recommend it despite my having to come up with my own installation parts.
