Really a fine TV at a great price! The picture quality and features are amazing for a TV at the $600 level. The 720p picture on this 42" plasma set looks as good as the one on my new Panasonic 54" 1080p plasma.For a TV this size, at this price, with a full set of features, I really don't think there's a better bargain out there.
I compared the same size plasma and LCD TV's in the same price range from Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp and Sony.I even went to a couple brick and mortar stores so I could compare the picture qualities, side by side whenever possible.I was amazed at how much better the deep blacks, bright colors, and sharp images looked compared to the others. The picture wizard in the set up menu was super easy to set up. it actually calibrates your set's picture to the lighting conditions of the room it's in.My larger more expensive Panasonoic 1080p set doesn't offer this feature.
There are 3 HDMI ports on this set. The rear of the slim, shiny, elegant black cabinet houses 2 of the HDMI ports, optical audio out, and a full array of component, audio and S-Video in/out jacks. The one on the side of the TV also has A/V RCA Jacks too, for quick video game or Video camera connection. The Menu, Volume and Channel buttons are on the bottom right front corner, are pressure sensitive, and add to the upscale look of the set. The TV also swivels on its stand.
I've never seriously considered LG before, and I never bought a TV on line before.I was wrong on both counts.I was also delighted by the quick delivery (arrived 4 days early), and sturdy packaging (double boxed and well padded) that 6th Avenue Electronics provided.I am definitely one happy customer!
